CHEMIGREEN CLUB CONCLUDING FUNCTION
REPORT
THEME: HIMALAYAS : FROM NATURE’S LABS TO OUR LIVES
On October 17, 2025, a closing ceremony for various activities of the Chemigreen Club of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Government College, Paonta Sahib, was organized, with Principal Dr. Jagdish Chauhan as the Chief Guest and Prof. Sulaxna Sharma as the Guest of Honour. In this program the students showcased scientific creativity, innovation, and environmental awareness.
The program began with a formal welcome of the Chief Guest by the Head of the Chemistry Department, Professor Amita Joshi, and Lieutenant Dr. Pooja Bhati. The Chemigreen Club's president, Palak, a third-year B.Sc. student, along with other office bearers Anjali, Anshul, and Muskaan, formally pinned badges on all the guests. In the first phase, the stage was managed by Madhav and Kaavyanjali. This phase commenced with a tribute to Goddess Saraswati presented by Ravina and her team from the first semester of M.Sc. Subsequently, Amandeep and her team from the third semester of M.Sc. presented a welcome song in honor of all the guests. During this phase, students from the Art Squad, Himani, Babita, and Shreya, presented a self-made bouquet to the chief guest Dr. Jagdish Chauhan and the Guest of Honour, Professor Sulakshana Sharma, while Ishita from the Plantation Squad gifted a plant. In this phase, the first prize-winning presentation on the theme "Nurturing Bonds and Shaping Future" by Anshika and Sofiya captivated everyone.
In the second phase, teams of Rinku, Saumya, Yashika and Anjali explained and illustrated the scientific reasons behind the myths and misconceptions prevalent in society through "Magic Reactions. Team Saumya secured first position in this event. All guests appreciated the artworks displayed by students in the "Best Out of Waste" series.
The third phase was conducted by Latika and Shruti, where students from the Cultural Squad presented various cultural performances. These included a group dance by Aman from the first semester of M.Sc., a solo song by Prachi from B.Sc. II year, a solo song by Amanpreet, guitar playing by Aastha, all themed "Himalayas: From Nature's Lab to Our Lives." Shruti's PowerPoint presentation on "Science Behind Fireworks" was well received by all.
The final phase of the program was conducted by Amandeep and Neha, during which the chief guest distributed awards and certificates to the winners of all competitions. Additionally, various squad leaders and members were awarded for their excellent performance and efforts to promote green chemistry during this session. Ravi, Nishant, Anshul from the Technical Squad; Mansi from the Library Squad; Rohit and Amandeep from M.Sc.; Palak and Binita from B.Sc.; Mohammad Aneesh from the Laboratory Squad and Anjali from M.Sc.; and Sanjana from M.Sc. and Sakshi Ranta from B.Sc. from the Plantation Squad were selected. Krishna from the first semester of M.Sc. was awarded for the essay writing held on Teacher's Day, Anshika Parwal, B.Sc.III for project writing, and Anshika, B.Sc.III for "Best Out of Waste."
In his address, the chief guest congratulated all students for actively participating in various activities of the Chemigreen Club and specially congratulated the award winners. He laid stress on the fact that activities of the Chemigreen club are unique in the sense that they motivate the students to opt for ecofriendly ways and to find innovative ways to perform various practicals using minimum hazardous chemicals. He encouraged them to enhance their personalities by participating in all extracurricular activities alongside their studies.
Finally, a vote of thanks was presented by Muskaan, the club's social secretary. The program concluded with the national anthem managed by technical group.
The Chemigreen concluding function proved to be a grand success celebrating the spirit of science, innovation and sustainability. The student’s creativity and dedication truly made the event memorable.
