Profile

Department of Physics was established in the year 1994 at the time of inception of the college itself with the Bachelor of Science as one of the elective subject. Over the years since the inception of the college, the department has grown in tune with the demands of the institution and improved its strength. As of today, Department of Physics is one of the servicing departments which impart sound knowledge in Physics. Two faculty members are working in the department of Physics.

At present Department of Physics offers under graduate programme of Bachelor of Science with Physics.

At present the department has the strength of 300 appearing students in B.Sc. Physics. 

 SWOC and Future Plans

SWOC:

  1. Strength:
    1. Hard working qualified faculty and staff.
    2. Good equipments in laboratory and other facilities.
    3. Excellent support from administration.
    4. Emphasis on theory and Practical.
    5. Acceptance of students at National and International level.
    6. Positive response to faculty guidance.
    7. Use of smart class rooms.
    8. Student friendly environment.
  2. Weakness:
    1. Large No of students in the class rooms.
    2. Limited No of full-time teaching staff.
    3. Department does not have its own library.
    4. PG Classes are not available in science stream.
    5. Extension and consultancy are not up to level
  1. Opportunities:
    1. Increasing awareness for Physics as an integral part of future education.
    2. To Create a vibrant academic atmosphere in the department with the help of reputed and experienced teachers
    3. To prepare our students for competitive examinations.
    4. To orient our students for basic research in the Physics subject.
  1. Challenges:
    1. To maintain the academic standard in the department in spite of weakness mentioned earlier.
    2. To increase high scientific temper among students.
    3. To link the curriculum and teaching learning process with the need of industry.
    4. Motivating students to take jobs in industry, defense research laboratories and academic institutions.
    5. Lack of excellence among students due to poor academic background.
    6. Time constraint due to tight schedule of CBCS syllabus.
