2023-08-09 Meri Matti Mera Desh

The "Meri Matti Mera Desh" campaign, initiated by the Government of India, was celebrated by the NSS units of Shree Guru Gobind Singh Ji Govt College Paonta Sahib on 9th August 2023. This campaign aims to pay homage to the motherland through a series of events dedicated to the soil of the nation, with the slogan "Matti Ko Naman Veeron Ka Vandan."

The celebration commenced on August 9th, 2023, at the college campus with volunteers taking the Panch Praan Oath. Following the oath, a plantation drive was conducted where 75 saplings were planted on the college campus and along Yamuna Path by the volunteers. In her address, the Principal of the college, Dr. Ritu Pant, stated that planting 75 saplings serves as a tribute to the national heroes and marks the 75th anniversary of India's Independence.

Later, the volunteers visited the Shaheed Smarak near the Mini Secretariat to pay homage to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the nation. SDM Paonta Sahib, Mr. Gunjeet Singh Chimma, joined the volunteers at the Shaheed Smarak. He remarked that this unified celebration of India's soil and valor will instill a sense of national pride and inspire future generations to protect India’s cherished heritage.
