RECONSTITUTION OF CHEMIGREEN CLUB 2024-25

The reconstitution ceremony of CHEMIGREEN CLUB OF Department of Chemistry, SGGSJ GC PAONTA SAHIB was held successfully on 29^th July 2024 under the Chairmanship of Principal Dr Vibhav Kumar Shukla. The programme formally began with the badge pinning ceremony of the Guests by HOD Amita Joshi followed by Saraswati Vandana by Chemigreen cultural squad members led by Komal Chandel. The glimpses of previous year activities of the Chemigreen Club were shown by Kshitiz MSc Chemistry III Sem student through power point presentation.

This was followed by introduction of the theme “PICTURE PERFECT CHEMISTRY “for the session 2024-25 by Madhav BSC II-year student who also called upon the stage Palak, Teaching squad leader from BSC II. She further elaborated the theme and motivated the student to participate in various competitions to be arranged by the Club in the upcoming weeks. Some of the competitions which attracted the students were: Chromatography Art Contest, Digital Art Contest, Colourful Slime contest, Quiz Competition on Dyes, Photography of reactions in nature.

In the second half of the programme Dr.Pooja Bhati A.P Chemistry talked in length about the short term and long term benefits of joining Chemi green Club for the students. The first-year students were specially made aware of the fact that the students who participate in the club activities with dedication learn lessons for life and definitely find a transformational positive change in their personalities besides getting an edge in assessment marks.

This was followed by the announcement of newly selected body of office bearers and squad leaders of the club by Dr. Pooja Bhati. A total of twenty-one students made the team of CHEMIGREEN CLUB LEADERS which included Kshitiz from MSC III (President), Kavita from BSC III (Vice President), Babita from MSC III (General Secretary), Palak from BSC II (Social Secretary) and Garv from BSC II (Managing Head of all squads). Besides these five office bearers 16 squad leaders from various fields like teaching, library, laboratory, plantation, energetic, file maintenance, cultural were also nominated. A new Squad “Generosity Squad was also started this year by Aman from BSC II in which students were motivate to donate their old books, practical files in the departmental library and outgoing students were also motivated to donate lab coats for lab work.

Dr Vibhav Kumar Shukla in his address appreciated the efforts of the Chemigreen club members and faculty for successfully running the club activities and motivated the students to take the club activities to new heights.

The efforts of the Department of Chemistry in nurturing such initiatives were highly appreciated by the attending professors Prof Vimmi Rani (HOD Geography), Prof Dr Dhyan Singh Tomar. They acknowledged the role of extracurricular activities in fostering leadership skills, teamwork and promoting a deeper understanding of environmental issues among students.

In the end Babita from MSC III presented Vote of Thanx to all faculty members, students and staff who contributed to the success of this event through their participation and support. The function concluded with National Anthem.
